![]() Lots of folks with International Connections or destinations outside Dublin have missed connections and are without essential baggage. On arrival at Dublin we wasted more the 30 minutes at the baggage carousel only to discover that the hold baggage had not been loaded as the craft was over weight - why did the Captain not tell us this when we landed so we didn’t waste time in the baggage area? In a very crowded Customer Services Hall the staff directed use of a QR code to file a missing baggage report but this only worked for tickets booked directly though Aer Lingus. We sat on the tarmac in stifling heat with no air conditioning as the engines weren’t running. Flight from Southampton to Dublin was delayed by over an hour due to the usual trite excuses of delays on earlier sectors. Sometimes cheaper is not better!Īer Lingus service today was simply dire. Then being told don't worry your bag is safe, we don't know where it is but it's safe. Then one person to check in a whole plane at once. From delays to late check-in because staff does not show on time. Now I am sitting a 12 hour drive from home not even sure when or where I will see my bag. What? The flight has been in the air for hours. Then I was told to wait until the plane arrived to confirm that there is room to put my suitcase aboard. I informed them that I would be at the airport to pick it up. Mid day I received a call that my luggage should arrive at 330pm. I postponed my drive to my home in Florida in an attempt to pick up my only clothing available. It would be placed on a flight arriving this evening to DC. I finally reached a live person this morning that told me that my luggage was in Dublin. ![]() I drove from Florida to DC and accompanied friends on our trip. ![]() I just arrived to DC from Rome yesterday to the surprise of no luggage. ALTOGETHER A NASTY EXPERIENCE BASED ON FALSE ADVERTISING. ![]() WE ARRIVED AT OUR ULTIMATE DESTINATION AT 01:15AM RATHER THAN 23:15 ON THE DAY WE HAD LEFT DUBLIN. THE EXPERIENCE DID NOT MATCH THE AER LINGUS ADVERTISMENTS SHOWN ON TV AND MEDIA OF FRIENDLY, SMILING CREW. ON THE WAY BACK ONE WEEK LATER, WE SAT IN THE SAME ROW TO FIND RUBBISH IN THE SAME PLACES ON OUR SEATS, CHEWING GUM STUCK TO A TRAY AND THE BACK OF A SEAT IN FRONT AND MORE TRASH STUCK TO THE TRAY OF THE WINDOW SEAT. WE ARRIVED 90 MINUTES LATE, PARKED A BUS RIDE AWAY FROM THE TERMINAL HAVING LEFT THE NEW, EMPTY TERMINAL 2 IN DUBLIN, AND THEN WAITED ONE HOUR FOR OUR LUGGAGE TO ARRIVE AT THE CAROUSEL. WE ARE TIRED SO DON'T COMPLAIN TO US AS WE ARE DOING OUR BEST" THIS WAS REINFORCED BY A STRONG GLARE FROM A YOUNGER WOMAN WITH A VERY UNFRIENDLY DEMEANOUR. THIS WAS FOLLOWED BY A STERN LECTURE FROM THE STEWARDESS AS FOLLOWS: "WE HAVE BEEN UP SINCE 5AM, WE HAVE FLOWN NUMEROUS LEGS BETWENN DUBLIN AND LONDON AND BACK TO MUNICH ETC. ![]() THE REASON GIVEN WAS THAT THE APU WAS NOT FUCTIONING. FLIGHT WAS 1 HOUR LATE BOARDING AND WE SAT IN THE PLANE FOR 25 MINUTES WITH NO AIR CONDITIONING OR AIRFLOW INTO THE CABIN. Do not fly Aer Lingus if you have a choice.ĪER LINGUS FALSE ADVERTISING, NASTY STAFF, DIRTY PLANE.įLEW FROM DUBLIN TO MUNICH ON 21ST OF JUNE WITH A FRIEND. Very poorly managed airline based on my experience, and the attitude of the employees who dealt with us was a reflection of poor management. We never heard such an announcement and asked the ticketing assistant why they did not tell us about all of this when we initially approached them and questioned them. Then when we go back to ticketing assistance counter, they blame us for "not listening to the announcement" that the Philadelphia flight was closing. We get to ticketing counter and they tell us flight closed, too late. No mention of 75 minute flight closing time or that we should go to a "special flight closing counter" if the 75 minutes was close to expiring before we got to ticketing counter. The ticketing assistant told us to get in line. We arrived over 2 hours before our flight was to depart from Dublin to Philadelphia and checked with ticket assistance when we saw a line in ticketing that was very long. Don't fly Aer Lingus if you have a choice! ![]()
